Unvented hot water systems are fed directly from the cold-water mains, which gives you hot water at cold water pressure. This is useful if you want high pressure showers or quick running baths.
A benefit of unvented systems is that you don't need a cold-water storage tank, ideal for those homes with less space. The water is usually heated via an immersion system or directly via the central heating.
Alternatively, there are vented hot water systems which are the more traditional of the two systems. This is where you do have a coldwater storage tank – usually in lofts of properties, which is heated up separately.
These tend to be the cheaper heating system as the materials and technology behind them are more straight forward, however one set back can be that the water pressure may not be as good compared to an unvented system.
